Industrial Water Filter

Industrial water filter has a small footprint, saving valuable installation space. Dirty water enters the filter screen from the bottom inlet of the filter, and then flows through the filter screen to the filter outlet.

Industrial water filters are vertical self-cleaning filters for harsh environments. With a vertical flange configuration, they can be easily installed and integrated into any straight pipe.

Industrial water filters feature filter units that can be installed in parallel to handle larger flow rates. During the filter self-cleaning process, the system is constantly flowing and the differential pressure switch constantly monitors the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the filter. These automatic filters serve a variety of industrial, irrigation and municipal applications.

How to size and select self cleaning water filter

Determine desired micron filtration level guidelines:

  • City Water > 5 micron
  • Ground/Well Water > 25 micronSeawater >40 micron
  • Cooling Tower Process water> 50 micron
  • Lake/Pond Water > 75 micron
  • River/Produced/Waste Water > 150 micron
  • Typically you will use 1/3 of the micron rating of the downstream equipment

Determine contamination level of current water source (ppm)

  • Clean: 0 to 25 PPM
  • Moderate: 26 to 70 PPM
  • Dirty: 71 to 100 PPM

Identify desired filter configuration

  • Working pressure 10 bar / 16 bar / 25 bar
  • Heavy-duty models offer higher flows

Select filter model from table

  • Identify model with equal or higher amount of square inches of screen
  • Verify that model selected has a maximum flow higher than required total flow

Installation matters
  • A check valve must be installed at the outlet of the filter. It is strictly prohibited to backflow water to prevent deformation of the filter screen.
  • If the working pressure of the system exceeds 0.8 MPa, a shut-off valve should be installed at the drainage pipe to reduce the impact on the screen mesh.
  • Pay attention to the direction of motor rotation. Immediately turn off the power after reversing (counterclockwise).
  • Install each component in the direction of the arrow.
  • Do not suddenly release pressure at the outlet pipe. Taking the normal working pressure of 1.3MPa as an example, if the branch valve at the outlet is suddenly opened, a huge pressure difference will immediately occur, which will damage the filter screen.
  • Ensure that the filter is used at the correct working pressure and capacity.
  • If an alarm occurs, open the temporary backwash solution through the bypass valve.
  • Ensure that the control box has a constant power supply. If there is a power outage, the user can open the bypass valve, close the inlet and outlet valves, and control box switch.
